With my "babies" at home and me on the other side of the country, I am so happy to have FaceTime and Skype so I can see my little ones. The kids can show me their new dance moves, tumbling tricks, lost teeth, karate moves and sweet smiles so I don't miss as much. The funny thing is that they don't really want to talk but instead enjoy making silly faces at themselves on screen! It's also been fun to give video tours of our new place to family and friends. There's just something about being able to see my loved ones while talking that makes me feel closer and more connected.
Our internet has been having some issues though, which has shown us how dependent upon it we are! We don't have a TV or cable, which we originally were fine with, knowing that we would have internet that could stream... It's been working on and off and Mikey and I are figuring out a long term solution so we don't want to strangle each other. In the meantime, I can Skype on my phone's 3G (since I need a WiFi for FaceTime). I even watched Grey's Anatomy on my iPhone while soaking in the tub, so don't worry that we're having to rough it out here in the boonies!
