For years, Mikey and I have talked about learning to sail, someday living on a sailboat and inviting our friends and family to come join us. We took the first step on that journey this week by taking our first sailing class and getting ASA (American Sailing Association) 101 certified. This means we are able to rent a sailboat 29 feet or smaller and go sailing all by ourselves! Wahoo!
We took our 3-day course through Annapolis Sailing School and John was our instructor. The two other students in our class were Sarah and Dick. We had read most of the provided textbook prior to the class so we felt well-prepared and had a small knowledge base to build on. It was great to have two days of hands on experience in the course. Unfortunately, we had to cancel the sailing portion of the class on the third day due to the torrential downpour but were given a voucher for a full day of sailboat rental each! That'll be great for practicing our newly learned sailing skills.
I can't wait to continue our sailing adventures in Seattle, perhaps the Virgin Islands and all of our travel nurse locations!
