Mikey and I went to the U2 concert with Sara and Heather in May. We rode TRAX with our friends Andy and Ness as well. It might have been one of the worst public transportation rides EVER! (That is saying a lot since I've riden trains and busses in India!) We waited downtown for the U of U line train while 3 crammed full trains slowly passed by. Finally, we were able to get on a train, jammed ourselves in with a crowd of annoyed, hot and sweaty U2 fans. Poor Ness has a bladder the sized of a plum, and she was holding it before we even boarded the train.
We thought we were home free once we were aboard, but then someone broke the door trying to pack too many people in. Another 10 minutes of sitting still went by while we watched the TRAX workers push, pull and kick at the doors. Finally, they closed and we made the slow, stop-and-go trip to the Rice Eccles Stadium at the U of U.
Ness and Andy sprinted off to the bathrooms and the rest of us met up with Yamashiro and the crew who were tailgating. The best part of tailgating was the Jimmy John's sandwiches I tried for the first time. Amazing!
The show itself was awesome. They played a lot of classic songs as well as a some new ones I hadn't ever heard. The stage was a crazy construction of magic, or something similar. It was a 360 degree screen that opened up, came apart, and moved up and down. We had a blast.
