2011 Whiskey Westwater

Our annual river trip "Whiskey Westwater" was held April 2nd and 3rd this year. I think it's so titled because it's often so cold that you absolutely need whiskey to stay warm and alive. Last year it snowed! It was pretty warm at the put-in on the first day and pretty chilly on the second day - rapid day. We had a great time though: blue skies, no injuries or swimmers.

It was Stanley's 3rd river trip and he did very well! He didn't even try to eat a cactus this time!!! He had his friends Marley, Koda and Skye to keep him company. His favorite part of the trip was fetching sticks out of the roaring river. After some hard swimming, though, it looked like his tail was broken - hanging limp straight down! Luckily, Vet Jess was on the trip and explained that he just strained his tail muscle swimming. After some haldol (provided by ever-ready-with-a-pharmacy Rich), he was feeling good and very mellow for the rapids!
